ShrinkIt is a fully recyclable packaging system featuring a new polypropylene (PP) cup and an all-polyolefin shrink label. This mono-material design eliminates costly label separation, streamlining recycling, and ensuring easy sorting and recycling of the entire package. Developed as a pilot project under the EU-funded SwitchMed Program by UNIDO, ShrinkIt supports the transition to a circular economy in the Mediterranean, promoting sustainable production, resource efficiency, and eco-innovation. The project involved collaboration between sleeve and cup manufacturers, food industry companies, and waste management organizations, ensuring thorough testing and validation at every stage, from manufacturing and filling to sorting and recycling.
